Max is now two! Its hard to believe. We had a family birthday party for Max this year to celebrate.

On Max’s actual birthday I made him birthday pancakes.

Blue C happens to have cupcakes for birthday boys.

After that we had a play date with Max’s friend Noah and my friend Tina. When Kelly got home we went out for sushi (Max used kiddie chopsticks!) and then we played around at the mall.
The Stats:
Height: 3 ft. (90th %)
Weight: 27 lbs. (50%)
Head Circumference: 20 in.
Favorite Books: Mooncake by Frank Asch (This is the first book he has asked for by name), Ask Mr. Bear, Thomas books, Dinosaur Train books, I’d Really Like to Eat a Child, Where is Farmer Brown,
Communication: I stopped keeping a list of words Max said a few months ago because there were too many to keep track of. He’s saying LOTS of stuff and its awesome! He says a lot of two word sentences. He says some three word sentences as well. Examples, “Papa mow grass,” “Mo cheese pees.” Phrases we hear most often are, “Mommy mere!” (Mommy come here!/look!”) and “Daddy hand!” (Daddy take my hand I have got to show you something amazing!)
Favorite Foods: pancakes, waffles, cereal, cheese, FRUIT SNACKS, popcorn, ice cream, cake, cookies, carrots, humus, broccoli stems, peas, apple sauce, yogurt, toast with butter, homemade popsicles, strawberries, blueberries, bananas (especially during Target shopping trips), macaroni and cheese, tri-tip steak, summer sausage, bacon, nutella
Likes: his new bed (thank goodness!), CONSTRUCTION anything, his blankets (especially his bear blanket),having books read to him (we read a ton of books all day long), watching Thomas or Dinosaur Train (this is quite rare especially because when its time to stop watching Max gets really upset), CONSTRUCTION, the Target dog (we watch Target TV long enough to see the target dog on each trip to Target), riding his trike, CONSTRUCTION,playing with his water toy outside, digging in what used to be our garden with his construction toys, CONSTRUCTION,being chased, peeking at us through bushes, throwing balls, playing with play dough, CONSTRUCTION,us blowing bubbles, him blowing bubbles (Fubbles: No spill bubbles!), playing with dogs, CONSTRUCTION,patting Sprinkles, jumping, stomping, shrieking, chasing Sprinkles, opening presents, getting the mail, firetrucks, police cars, buses, farm animals, tractors
Dislikes: having his teeth brushed. I let him brush his teeth (he sucks the toothpaste off of the toothbrush) then I help and we either brush his teeth together on a good day or on a not so good day I do all the brushing and its not pretty. Other dislikes: having his diaper changed (he’s not very interested in potty training – this will be an age three goal), being told/asked to stop an activity to do something else, getting dressed, having shampoo rinsed out of his hair, getting shots
Social/Emotional: helps putting things away (sometimes), likes to pretend, has temper tantrums when frustrated/told no, frequently does the opposite of what he is asked to do, very curious, has difficulty sharing (we practice taking turns and find that easier for Max to understand), usually plays alone even when other kids are around, says, “no” to many requests, insists on trying to do many thing by himself (he says, “Self!”)
Adaptive: uses utensils most of the time, removes loose clothing like his jacket
Physical Development: draws with crayons or markers (tells us he is drawing circles), stacks 4-6 objects, throws smalls balls overhand about three feet
