I’ve let Max use a spoon to feed himself a handful of times. Yes, I know I should let him do it more but it gets SOOOO messy. He mostly just self feeds with finger food. Well today he had had enough of his mommy spoon feeding him. We were sitting on the carpet in the living room when He refused to let me feed him or even hold the bowl with vanilla yogurt while he fed himself with a spoon. So I put him in his high chair and let him have at it. He was very happy to feed himself with the handle end of his spoon the switch to the spoon end. It was soooo cute. My lesson for the day: Let Max feed himself with a spoon even if its messy. He needs to learn and he knows how to do it. If he doesn’t practice he’ll never get good at it.
